We recently got involved with two water and landscape projects with Julian Dowle, International Garden and Landscape Design Consultant (Designer of Chelsea Flower Show Gold Medal Gardens, including Best In Show 2005). We constructed a garden walled ornamental pool, a conservation lake and the surrounding landscaping.
Project - Lake Construction, Hard Landscaping and Land Drainage
The area in which we constructed the lake was not suitable for crops or grazing due to the wet and boggy nature of the land. The lake was designed to look natural and flow with the contours of the land, ensuring that every angle was pleasing to the eye. We also installed a comprehensive drainage scheme to drain the surrounding field and feed the lake. The lake was complete with jetties, bridges, quad tracks, an island and a comprehensive planting scheme.
It is now a fantastic place for the client to watch for bird and water life, and to take a well deserved stroll. It is a vast improvement to its previous state and a delightful extension to the client's garden.

Project - Equestrian Arena, Ornamental Lake and Ditching - Summer 2005
This is a good example of how we can offer you the complete package. With expertise in so many areas it is quite usual that we undertake a variety of projects for one client.
The below pictures show a project that we carried out in early summer 2005. The client had asked us to install a 50m x 25m equestrian arena and an ornamental lake in the valley below his property. We also re-shaped and cleaned out the existing brook course.
The client had felt that due to the lay and nature of the land that there was only one suitable place to locate the arena, and that was to the far left of the fields. However, he had wanted it to be positioned just below the front of his house so that he could see his children riding in the arena with ease.
Our belief is that nothing is impossible, so we re-landscaped the whole valley and used material excavated from the pool to build up a plateau to position the arena above the lake and exactly where he had wished it to be.
Within a few months of hand raking, seeding and completing works, the lake and arena had settled in and looked like they had always been there. The client, who is a keen fisherman, now has a well stocked pool to fish at his own leisure. The children have no excuse not to ride their horses and win at all the shows! The aspect from the house has improved double fold, and the pool and arena are a valuable investment to the property.
